Program Director, Bloomfield Makayla Rainey

As a Program Director in training, Makayla has been working in the Early Childhood Field for five years now. As of February 2019, Makayla was transferred to our Bloomfield center to take on the roll as Assistant Director. Makayla is currently enrolled in school working towards her Director’s Credential. Makayla began working with A Place to Grow at our Avon Location in March 2018 as a preschool teacher and she enjoyed every second of it. Cheryl offered Makayla to move to the Bloomfield site and work closely along side Cheryl and of course Susan to gain as much knowledge as she can to afford her the position of program Director in the near future. 

Makayla’s Early Childhood experience began at the daycare in her town, Terryville, when she was a senior in high school. From there, she knew child care was what she wanted to do! After the daycare in Terryville, Makayla worked as a teacher’s aide in a preschool, which is where she realized that she loved working with the three to five year olds.

In Makayla’s free time she enjoys taking care of her dog, Rubble.  She likes to go for walks, cook, take her kayak out on the water and read books. Makayla is in the middle of reading The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joana Gaines! Her favorite color is olive green and her favorite children’s book is How to Become a Pirate by Melinda Long and David Shannon. Makayla is excited to see what the future has in store for her here at A Place to Grow and assisting in making our Bloomfield center the best that it can be!
